Join us on Wednesday, July 9th for an exploration into how industry and communities are working together to reduce food waste through innovation, circular economy strategies, and behaviour change campaigns.

You’ll hear from Jessica Regan, award-winning entrepreneur and founder of FoodMesh, and Megan Czerpak, Head of Communications at FoodMesh and national leader for the Love Food Hate Waste Canada campaign. Together, they’ll explore how British Columbia is collaborating with the IC&I sector and how campaigns like Love Food Hate Waste can help close the loop on food waste prevention – benefiting both households and communities.

Participants will:

  • Learn how BC is engaging the IC&I sector in scalable food recovery solutions
  • Explore the impact of the Love Food Hate Waste national campaign in shifting household behaviours
  • Discover how social impact entrepreneurship and storytelling are driving national food waste reduction

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES

Jessica Regan is an award-winning entrepreneur, and thought leader on circular economy, waste recovery, and social impact business. Jessica has previously consulted for numerous Fortune 500 corporations, start-ups, and all four levels of government, including the United Nations, in areas of community economic development and sustainability.
Jessica’s work concentrates on developing highly scalable start-ups using business as a vehicle for social change, including: EcoTrek Tours, Social Impact Technology Accelerator (SITA), and FoodMesh, a food recovery solution provider that leverages technology to help a network of over 2,500 organizations reduce waste to landfill, save costs, and feed more.
She is the Vice Chair of KASOW, a Kenyan-based charity focusing on health, agriculture and micro financing for entrepreneurs, and serves as the Director for the Git’gaat First National Economic Development Council focused on economic self-determination through culturally aligned economic activities. She holds a Masters Degree in Political Science, and lives in Vancouver, Canada with her husband and two young children.

Megan Czerpak is a mission-driven communications leader with nearly two decades of experience advising organizations across North America and Europe, including the University of British Columbia and HSBC Bank. She is the Head of Communications at FoodMesh, where she leads national efforts to reduce food waste, including overseeing the Love Food Hate Waste Canada campaign.
A former adjunct professor at the UBC Sauder School of Business, Megan has a passion for making complex ideas accessible and inspiring action through storytelling. When she’s not helping Canadians save food and money, you’ll find her treasure-hunting at yard sales, crafting, or exploring the outdoors. She lives in Courtney, BC, with her husband and two children.
